If you are seeking a divorce, I can make the arrangements for a Mediation, a "safe meeting," with you and your spouse. The subjects to be discussed and for you to determine would be visitation, custody and division of property. You may come with or without your attorney(s).

Elderly Parents This is becoming more and more of a subject to be discussed. Should this be an issue, I would arrange for the adult children, and any other person(s) involved, to meet in a safe setting. They would have the opportunity to discuss conflicted matters, i.e. housing, finances, and emotional related issues. They could determine their mutual goals and determine resolutions.

FAMILY MEDIATION

Family Mediation covers information needed to mediate divorce issues, centering on visitation and custody. The general intent of this form of Mediation is "what is in the best interest of the child." With this in mind, a video is shown to the parents called "Don't Forget the Children." The message is to emphasize that they are there to concentrate on their children's future, not their unfinished business. If a couple is emotionally able to do so, they can mediate their own divorce, sign a mutally agreeable agreement and take it to an attorney who can then prepare it for the Court. This process makes it financially beneficial for the couple and empowers them since they have been able make the decisions themselves.

  • 30-Hour Family Training from a branch of East Texas State University Division of Continuing Education (1989, Fort Worth, TX)
  • 24-Hour Refresher of Family Training Course through Nueces County Dispute Resolution Services (1993, Corpus Christi, TX)
